Binance account after a death
How Binance handles the funds of an account holder who passed away: the published procedure, the documents, and the regional differences that matter.
Binance entities operate under different regional rules, and the official procedures differ between them. This page explains the published process and the one thing that stays true everywhere: the estate follows the platform’s own official procedure, no intermediary is needed.
The published procedure (Binance, Inheritance Appeal)
Binance’s official support documentation describes an “Inheritance Appeal” feature for claiming the assets of a deceased user:
- Use only the official Binance flow, on Binance’s own website or in the official app, never via a link from a message: Customer Support → Self Service → Legacy Inheritance.
- Provide the documentation requested, typically a death certificate, proof of the lawful representative’s authority (probate or the local equivalent), and identification.
- Follow their verification timeline, deliberately slow, and normal.
Regional differences
Binance operates separate platforms in different regions, and each has its own support process and legal requirements. The general pattern (documentation proving death, authority and identity) is the same, but the exact form and requirements must be confirmed on the platform where the account exists, in the applicable jurisdiction.
Not your region? The principle is the same on other Binance entities (official procedure, documents, no intermediary) but the exact process belongs to the platform where the account exists. Confirm it on that platform’s own support site, typed by you, before sending anything.
What heirs should know
- No beneficiary designation exists. Binance accounts follow the estate process, not a transfer-on-death setting.
- Never log in without lawful authority, it can freeze the claim and carries legal risk.
- No official process ever asks for your password, funds password or withdrawal codes. Anyone who does is not support.
- Verify every message. Impersonation of exchange support is common around estates; the official link and its wording are your protection.
What this page is not
This page cannot speed up or bypass the official process. It is also not Binance’s own documentation, the support article is the authoritative source, and the region-specific process always wins over this general page. Start with authority: legal authority vs technical access, then the official procedure.
